Why OdoHub Exists

OdoHub exists because a finance manager was working 60-hour weeks at month-end, bringing spreadsheets home to reconcile mileage claims.

In 2025, an Irish engineering consultancy with over 100 travelling staff asked me to build them a solution. The problem wasn’t just time – it was uncertainty. Were the Revenue rate bands applied correctly? Had anyone crossed a threshold mid-month? Which trips were billable to which projects? The spreadsheet couldn’t answer those questions reliably.

So I built OdoHub. Band thresholds that update automatically as staff hit cumulative limits. Distances verified via maps. Project codes attached to every trip. Clean exports to payroll in minutes instead of days.

It worked. They’re still using it.

What OdoHub Does

I’ll be honest, I’m not weirdly enthusiastic about tax regulations. What I care about is people working evenings and weekends. Engineers losing trust in a system that feels arbitrary. Businesses overpaying staff – or underpaying and creating liability.

I built OdoHub to handle the compliance so you don’t have to think about it. It’s designed specifically for Irish and UK Revenue requirements – applying the correct rate bands automatically, verifying distances via maps, and giving you a complete audit trail. Managers approve in bulk. Finance exports clean data to payroll.

The result: fewer disputes, fewer errors, and month-ends that don’t require a spreadsheet intervention.

Who’s Behind It

Alastair McDermott

Founder

I’ve spent nearly two decades in enterprise technology, including time at Sun Microsystems. I built OdoHub after seeing how poorly served this market was – firms that needed proper governance but couldn’t justify enterprise fleet solutions.
